Movement and Dance Education Centre provides learning opportunities for students of all ages and teachers of movement and dance.Our teaching philosophies and approach are based on the work of Laurel Martyn OBE, one of Australia’s foremost pioneers of dance and movement.
Her approach is regarded as among the most progressive and creative in current practice. MDEC administers the Laurel Martyn Dance Teaching System under agreement with the Laurel Martyn Foundation, offering Teacher registration, training and professional development, and assessment pathways for students.
The organisation continues to develop and expand the strong foundation of Laurel Martyn’s work established over more than 50 years in Australia. The current structure of the organisation itself has evolved over some 20 years.
